Metin Oktay completed his undergraduate studies (BSc in Systems Engineering) at the US Military Academy at West Point in 1993. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the Turkish Army. While serving as an Attack Helicopter Pilot, he attained a graduate degree in 1998 at Bilkent University (MA in Political Science and Public Administration). After leaving the military, Metin attended the Oxford University Said Business school to pursue an MBA degree. He started his post-military career at KPMG in London where he worked as a Strategy Management Consultant. Investment banking at Deutsche Bank in London was his next career to be followed by a move into the industry at Rolls-Royce plc where he took up several senior roles, the latest being Vice President-Customer Business for Africa. Metin returned to Turkey in September 2011 to take up an executive position at IDO, Istanbul Ferries & Sea Bus Company. After IDO, he worked as Interim General Manager for Rubicon Group, a publicly-listed Australian mining & exploration company. He later joined Doosan Power Systems, the European subsidiary of Doosan Heavy Industries, a South Korean conglomerate, as Managing Director to lead the regional business development & marketing activities for thermal power plant projects. Metin currently works as Executive Director at Yıldırım Holding, one of the leading globally diversified industrial groups in Turkey. He also serves as Vice Chairman at the Energy Council of Foreign Investors, a non-profit association which aims to support the efforts of international and domestic players in developing the Turkish energy sector.
